Mel White, owner of Tehachapi Art Center and  Cross Roads Gallery, is a well-known local writer and photographer.   Her original vision for the Tehachapi Art Center was that it would be a place that celebrates and encourages all forms of art and creativity.  Brought  through displays and sales in the gallery and the availability of art supplies, and through classes and community events in the yard.   And that's exactly what the Art Center has become.

But it has become more then just that: Tehachapi Art Center has become a gathering place for creative people and people who love art; it is a welcoming and comfortable place to hang out and laugh, share stories and experiences, and learn from each other.

All of the people who are a part of the Art Center - especially those who volunteer for the various activities and events - are shaping not only its present but also its future...which looks very bright indeed.
